Ode to Bubbe

Until recently, every Friday my mom (aka Bubbe) would come over to watch Charlotte while I worked from home.  It was really nice for us.  Bubbe never shows up empty handed and each Friday she brought another dress for Charlotte.  We have a variety of sizes and seasons to choose from. Charlotte is wearing one of my favorites, a cable knit sweater dress.  In an effort to reproduce this photo of Art and his overalls, I staged this:

Charlotte was very cooperative and didn't try to eat one of the dresses until I was done.

Baby So Real

When Charlotte's 6 month birthday arrived, it felt like a big milestone.  Where has the time gone!?  I can't believe how big she is now.  I mean, seriously, I can't believe it.  In this picture she is next to one of her preemie sleepers.  Look how tiny it is - it looks like doll clothes!

We recently started solids with Charlotte.  Like good new parents, we took oodles of pictures and made a video, but then our home computer was out of commission for a couple weeks and we couldn't share them until now.  Here are some pictures from Charlotte's first meal of rice cereal.

She really seemed to enjoy the process of eating, but wasn't so sure about swallowing.  In fact, she did this trick a few times.  After a few successful days of rice cereal we branched out to avocado.   You can't tell in this picture but it was a big hit.  Since then, we have also tried sweet potatoes, which she liked so much that she was angry that I wasn't feeding her fast enough.

Easter

Charlotte and I got together with the Parkers and Longleys for Easter.  After brunch, we went for a walk to enjoy the beautiful day.  Look, no jackets!

Like I said before, Charlotte loves to talk!  This is a typical scene upon waking. 

Chewy

Charlotte is experimenting with sounds as of late.  She is usually quite a chatterbox, but her new thing is making this crazy sound as she inhales.  It sounds like Chewbacca.

Beautiful Girl

6 Months

Charlotte is six months old (yesterday).   She's 25 1/4 inches and 15 lb 9 ounces.  She is such a big girl!  Actually, she is average for her age now.  You'd never know she was a preemie, except that she is a little less coordinated than Netta and Bailey. We are going to start solids and sleep training this week.  For her six month birthday, she got a food mill and a high chair so we can make her baby food and feed it to her.  Wish us luck!
